Zinc tablets
The Versatility of the Trace Element Zinc
Zinc is an essential trace element that plays a crucial role in our metabolism and cell division. Its significance becomes particularly evident when a zinc deficiency occurs. Zinc is essential for building the immune system, activating immune cells, and influences wound healing, fertility, as well as the appearance of skin and hair. It contributes to cell protection against oxidative stress and supports normal metabolic processes.
A deficiency in zinc weakens the immune system, makes one more susceptible to infections, and impairs overall health. Since the body cannot produce zinc on its own, sufficient zinc intake through diet is crucial. However, studies show that about one-third of the German population suffers from zinc deficiency. Find out why and how this can be counteracted here.
Foods Rich in Zinc
Zinc is present in many foods, with cheese and meat often taking the spotlight. Surprisingly, poppy and pumpkin seeds, however, have a particularly high zinc content and surpass animal products. Plant sources such as soybeans, peas, and lentils are also rich in zinc. Unfortunately, these healthy foods are often not regularly included in the diet.
An additional problem is that some healthy foods contain phytates, which bind zinc and make absorption difficult. Whole grains, cereal products, and certain vegetables fall into this category. Despite sufficient zinc intake, this can lead to a deficiency that needs to be addressed. Zinc tablets from Phytochem can be a solution here.
An overdose of zinc is practically impossible since excess zinc is excreted by the body. However, individuals with a sensitive stomach should be aware of possible reactions.
